Blackcats head to playoffs

The Bay City Blackcats are playoff-bound with a second-place finish in district and a 7-4 win over Stafford at home last Friday to cap their regular season.
The team now heads to a bi-district playoff against Sealy.
Coach Jared Hoelscher said all playoff games are at Wharton ISD baseball field.
The playoff begins with Bay City the home team at 6 p.m. Friday, May 5.
Sealy will be the home team at a 11 a.m. Saturday game.
A game 3, if necessary, will be 45 mins after conclusion of game 2.
The Blackcats (13-9-1, 9-3) were down 3-0 to Stafford going into the bottom of the fourth inning last Friday, but the offense ignited with a stunning seven-run volley that paved the way for the win.

Blake Maclennan had a .492 on base percentage and led the team with 18 runs.
Anthony Terrazas, Ashton Wallace and Ayden Smith all had 10 stolen bases.
Smith also had three team-leading triples.
Pitcher David Perez had an impressive 0.91 earned run average and led the team with five doubles.
Jace Dewitt led the Blackcats with a .471 slugging percentage and with his season total of 17 runs batted in.
Wallace and Dewitt each had two home runs.
Joey Davalos had a team-leading fielding percentage of 0.971.
