"Cowboys take down Leps" By John Hoffman

Coming off of a clean sweep over competitors Angleton Christian, Bay City, Victoria East, and Wharton at the recent Van Vleck Basketball Invitational, Leopard coach Bill Ramey’s team tournament championship celebration was short lived.
The Edna Cowboys erased a 10-point first-half lead in route to a 48-40 victory over the Leps Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Van Vleck started off the game hot behind the shooting of junior guard Corey Austin (22 points) and Micah Burks (12 points), but turnovers and excessive fouls in the second half proved too much for the Leopards to overcome.
“We turned the ball over too much and gave up way too many fouls,” Van Vleck boys basketball head coach Bill Ramey said after the game.
“Anytime you foul out two starters and give them more free throws (17) than we had attempts (15), its hard to win the game.  This is the most turnovers we had all season, and we have to clean it up going forward.”
