Lady Leps go into spring with wins

   The Van Vleck Lady Leopards Softball teams head into spring break on a good note. 
  The Leopards over the past two weeks have shown improvement by going 5 - 0 - 2. Their record now stands at 7 - 2 - 2.   
  The Lady Leps defeated Katy St John 2 - 0 with a no-hitter thrown by Lakyn Matchett along with 13 strikeouts. 
  Picking up hits offensively were Alexa Zuniga, Crystal Garcia, Nicole Ryman, Lakyn Matchett and Rachel Huerta.  
  The Leps went on the road to Wharton and had their best hitting performance of the season. 
  The Leps picked up 18 hits in defeating the Lady Tigers 14 - 1. 
  Leading hitters were Kamryn Waller and Adia Kyle with 3 hits. Alexa Zuniga, Kylie Sazera, Nicole Ryman, Army Gutierrez and Ierial Garcia picking up 2 hits a piece. 
  Lakyn Matchett picked up the win with 8 strikeouts.  
  The Leps hosted a tournament over the weekend and finished 2 - 0 - 2.  
  The Lady Leps defeated Sweeny 16 - 1 and Flatonia 8 - 0. 
  Lakyn Matchett picked up both wins and hit a milestone with over 300 strikeouts in her high school career. 
  The Leps tied both of their games on Saturday while playing Industrial and Palacios. 
  By record and scoring the Leopards finished as tournament champions with Alexa Zuniga and Lakyn Matchett being named to the all tournament team.  
  The Lady Leps finished off their stretch of games by defeating Stafford 15 - 0 on Monday. Aamry Gutierrez and Crystal Garcia lead the way with 3 hits. 
  Nicole Ryman picked a homerun and 2 RBI’s.   
  The Lady Leps host Halletsville Sacred Heart on Friday March 14 before beginning district play at Hempstead Tuesday March 18.
