Lucio assesses Tigers’ summer camp, Friday’s contest against Palacios

“We came out of camp mostly healthy, Tidehaven Head Coach David Lucio said of summer workouts.
“We dealt with more colds and flu than injuries,” he added.
“ Our runningback Jullian Stockton was somewhat of a surprise. We knew he had potential from his play on JV last year in his freshman year.
“He put on some significant weight and got a lot stronger and faster over the offseason and summer.
“He looks like he could be something special this year,” Lucio said.
“Noah Riddick has also looked good at the runningback position.  He’s another kid that showed signs of being good last year on the JV and to this point has delivered,” the coach said.
Lucio remarked about Friday’s opener against Palacios.
“This will be a tougher one than most think. They have some advantages that will make things difficult for us.
“Their kids have trained in some “high-tech” facilities for a year now, and they have new systems on both sides of the ball.
“Both their coordinators and their head coach are coming from bigger schools, so we will have our hands full with the expertise that comes from coaching at schools with more “A’s” in them,” he said.
“My staff and I have been here for a while, so they’ll have plenty of film to figure out what we like to do. On the other hand, we really don’t have much film to watch on them because they are new.
“That along with their second scrimmage being cancelled will make it difficult for us to prepare for them,” Lucio said about last Friday scrimmage cancellation.
“We will attempt to not let the rivalry be a distraction and prepare for the unknown as best we can.”
