"Tigers beat Rice, look to Brazos" by: Mike Reddell

Tidehaven defeated Rice Consolidated 39-21 in a District 14-3A-2 away game last Friday, Oct. 8.
Tidehaven (3-2, 1-0) will follow that with another road trip, this time to Wallis to play Brazos (1-5, 0-1) this Friday, Oct. 15.
“We came out strong then got a little sloppy,” Tiger Head Coach David Lucio said about last Friday’s contest.
“I liked how we tackled and our overall physicality,” Lucio added.
“We hammered them on both offense and defense.
“We still had a few too many mistakes,” Lucio commented.
“Our special teams were near flawless.
“We kicked a 33-yard field goal, blocked a punt and had some good kickoff returns.
“Our passing game was off, which I kind of expected because of the long layoff.
“Overall, I thought we played well.”
The Tigers had 292 rushing yards against Rice, with two Tidehaven players turning in 100-yard-plus games.
Quarterback Logan Crow had 143 yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns.
Tiger Joseph Dodds tallied 130 yards on 15 carries and also had two touchdowns.
Crow was 3 of 13 for 56 yards passing, with an interception and a touchdown.
Kevin Rickaway had two catches for 36 yards and a touchdown, and Dodds had one catch for 20 yards. Rickaway also had an interception.
Rice had 90 yards rushing and 143 yards passing.
The Tidehaven and Brazos game will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday at Cougar Stadium in Wallis.
