Coming off a 70-13 rout of Brazos last week, Tidehaven will host cross-county rival Van Vleck this Friday (Oct. 22) in a contest for the upper tier berths in District 14-3A-2.
Tidehaven (4-2, 2-0) and Van Vleck (4-3, 2-0) are in a three way tie for 1st place in the district with East Bernard (6-1, 2-0).
“Our young players continue to get better,” Tiger Head Coach David Lucio remarked.
“This past week kept with that theme. We physically dominated them from the first whistle to the last,” he noted about the team’s overwhelming play against Brazos.
“We would have preferred to not let the score get so out of hand, but they kept trying to throw the ball on us which led to some scores from our defense,” he said.
“We made it through without any major injuries, and with a dominant victory, so it was a pretty good night for us.
“This week we take on a very good Van Vleck team,” Lucio said.
“They played a common opponent in Rice and beat them more than what we beat them by.
“We will need to play a flawless game to keep our win streak alive.”
Against Brazos, Tidehaven had 481 yards of total offense – 356 yards rushing and 125 yards passing.
