The Lady Leopards softball team opened up district play with a 9-3 win over Hempstead.
Lakyn Matchett picked up the win with 13 strikeouts in 8 innings of work.
Leading hitters for the Lady Leps were Olivia Britton 4 - 5 - 4 RBI, Kylie Sazera 3 - 4,
Keira Reis 2 - 5 - 1 RBI, Alexa Zuniga 2 - 3, Michelle-Rose Mirelez 2 - 4.
Also in the hit column were Serenity Suarez, Jaila Wilson and Lakyn Matchett.
The Leps are now 9 - 2 - 1 , 1 - 0 on the season.
They will continue district play this week at home vs Hitchcock and then again on Wednesday at Boling.
