Work on Nile Valley Road has been limbo since it was closed in 2011, but Bay City council members want to get the west end loop that connects Texas 35 with Texas 60 back in operation.
Of Nile Valley Road’s 2.65-mile length, city councilman Bill Cornman is focused on the poor condition of the 1.35-mile segment from MLK (formerly Second Street) to east of the Nile Valley overpass bridge.
Nile Valley Road was closed to all but emergency vehicle traffic in July 2011.
“Reduce traffic downtown and you reduce the problem of bad things happening,” he said in an interview with the Bay City Sentinel.
