It was opening day for Bay City Little League Saturday and all of young baseball players sported their uniforms, including T-ballers up the major leaguers. With superb weather, parents, supporters, county and city officials and civic leaders were on hand for the ceremonies that included a cake auction to raise funds for the Little League. An estimated 270 Little Leaguers were the main attraction on opening day Saturday. This year’s cake auction, above, raised about $12,000, said longtime volunteer Roger Gay. The proceeds will mainly go toward improving Little League fields.
