Siemens report gets lukewarm council reception

City councilman Bill Cornman and a Siemens representative disagreed on several points during an update on the $9.3 million energy savings performance contract at council’s meeting March 26.
“This is a good news kind of meeting,” Seimens senior executive Deval Allums told council.
The guaranteed savings in this Year 1 performance was $712,273, while the actual savings was $781,293, exceeding the contractual guarantee by $69,020, or 10 percent, Allums pointed out.
Siemens energy savings performance contract – effective Sept. 1, 2013 - is expected to reduce electricity consumption by nearly 30 percent and water use by more than 70 percent over 15 years.
