Van Vleck man drowns trying to save children

   Van Vleck resident Joe Ros drowned trying to save four children who were caught in the undertow on Matagorda Beach around 2:30 p.m. Monday the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office said.
   “It was reported there were four children in the water and were being pulled by the undertow,” according to a sheriff’s office press release Tuesday. 
   A child yelled for help and Ros and Sandra Hogg went into the water to get the children, deputies reported.
   Hogg and Ros reached the children and were trying to get them back to shore, the sheriff’s office said.
