County audit clean

An audit of Matagorda County’s 2014 financial report was mostly good news for commissioners court members at their regular meeting Monday, June 8.
The county received a “clean, unmodified opinion,” CPA Susan Reed, with the Bay City firm of Sliva and Reed, told the court.
Since the county receives federal funds, Reed said the audit had to explore how the county complied with federal accounting requirements.
There were no internal control problems with that portion of the audit.
But digging deeper in the overall financial report the audit did find internal control problems, Reed said.
