Trustees add 6 bus routes

The BCISD board of trustees added six additional bus routes for the 2015-2016 school year Monday night.
“Due to increased traffic in Bay City on Texas 60 and Texas 35, BCISD is returning transportation service to students inside the two mile radius who live in areas that safety and traffic is of historical concern.,” said BCISD Superintendent Keith Brown in a press release Tuesday in a further explanation of the board’s action Monday night.
“The safety and security of our students is always at the forefront of our decision making processes in BCISD,” said school board president Tim Powell that was also part of the press release.
BCISD transported an average of 940 students per day in the 2014-2015 school year.
With the addition of the six new bus routes BCISD will increase student safety and decrease automobile traffic at all three elementary schools while also providing transportation to at least 250 additional students for the 2015-2016 school year.
