TCEQ appears ready to OK another curtailment

While the levels in the Travis and Buchanan Highland storage reservoirs rose dramatically thanks to the May rains and from Tropical Storm Bill, the TCEQ looks like it’s prepared to give LCRA’s another 120-day emergency order to keep from releasing stored water to lower Colorado River basin rice farmers.
TCEQ Executive Director Richard Hyde notified Gov. Greg Abbott on June 16 of Hyde’s “consideration of this emergency order,” which effectively activated another 120-day curtailment period.
TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) will meet July 1 to consider “whether to affirm, modify, or set aside this emergency order.”
