County has lots to do for Independence day

With Fourth of July events spread from one end of Matagorda County to the other, locals and tourists alike might have to form a game plan for how they plan on spending their Independence Day.
Bay City’s annual “Sparks in the Park” event starts at 5 p.m. at Le Tulle Park and ends at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday.
“We have five, maybe more vendors selling food,” said Parks and Recreation director Kelly Penewitt.
Hot dogs, funnel cakes, water, fried Snickers, hamburgers, snow cones and barbecue are slated to be sold.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs and can bring their own coolers.
“As long they do not bring in alcohol or glass,” she said.
“Those items are prohibited in the park.”
