Officers of the Bay City Police Department and Bay City ISD Police Department were present during the "Hometown Heroes" luncheon sponsored by the Bay City Public Library July 21.

Veterans, first-responders and other local heroes were honored with a luncheon at the Bay City USO Service Center Tuesday July 21.
The luncheon wrapped up the Bay City Public Library’s summer program “Every Hero has a Story.”
“As part of our program we invited participants to write a letter to their personal hero,” said library director Andrea Savage.
Donnie Fondon, age 7, wrote to Batman and Robin, explaining why they were his favorite hero.
He chose them as his heroes “because they fight crime and they’re good guys.”
Batman made a guest appearance and thanked Donnie for his letter as well as the other first-responders present for being heroes.
