‘Rock the Block’ Thursday

Get ready to “Rock the Block” this Thursday, Aug. 13 from 5 – 7 p.m. downtown in Bay City.
This month’s theme is “Celebrate the Arts.”
Local artist and owner of Studio ZG, Zeinab Ghais, will feature a miniature art walk in front of her store.
“It’ll be my artwork, Gene and Gaddis Geeslin, Thomas Williams, Will Scott and other assorted artists,” she said.
“All of the art on display will be available for purchase.”
Most of the works will be paintings and metal sculpture by Thomas Williams.
“The artwork will be in front of and inside the store,” said Ghais.
“I am also serving vodka cucumber lime coolers.”
Those drinks are reserved for patrons ages 21 and up.
The Poco Playa food truck will be making another appearance around the Square, as well as the Real Deal Grill truck.
Other downtown businesses plan to have refreshments and specials on tap also.
Travel World is asking for citizens to stop by this week and add to their canvas of vacation memories.
The one-of-a-kind masterpiece will be on display during “Rock the Block.”
The Matagorda County Museum is hosting “From Across the River,” an exhibit featuring local artists from the western part of Matagorda County.
An opening reception will be hosted during “Rock the Block” at the Museum, 2100 Ave F Bay City.
Featured artists include Danny Stephens, Taylor Stephens, Glen Barnett and Colleen Vavra.
The exhibit runs through Aug. 29.
