100 Club hosts awards dinner

    The Hundred Club of Matagorda County will host the 38th Annual Law Enforcement Awards Dinner starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, at the Eagles Hall. 
   The event is free and open to the public. 
   The dinner provides an opportunity for the community to show their appreciation for our peace officers. 
   Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. followed by the awards presentations. 
   All law enforcement officers, officials and their families are special guests. 
   Members and families of the Hundred Club, as well as the general public are all invited. 
   The individual outstanding officers from Matagorda County law enforcement agencies are selected each year by their peers through a secret ballot. 
   A cash award of $200 and a plaque will be given to each outstanding officer during the awards dinner. 
   Also, the Hundred Club will provide six door prizes of $100 each to the law enforcement officers and employees of each agency. 
   Support for Matagorda County law enforcement officers is the whole point of the Hundred Club. 
   In addition to the dinner, the Hundred Club has established a fund to aid families of officers lost in the line of duty. 
   The membership dues and interest from fund investments are dedicated for this purpose. 
   The awards dinner and the purchase of life-saving equipment are paid form the fund raising activities and many “Friends of the Hundred Club” who make annual donations. 
   Corporate sponsors will support the dinner again this year and be acknowledged at with certificates of appreciation from the Hundred Club.
