All 5 school districts ‘Met Standard’ in STAAR tests

All five school districts in Matagorda County have “Met Standard” for their State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test results.
Of those five, four made distinctions in a number of categories.
Overall, Bay City ISD met standard by making scores above the target score for each index.
The indexes include student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps and postsecondary readiness.
Three BCISD schools also made distinction designations.
Bay City High School and Linnie Roberts Elementary both earned a distinction for academic achievement in science.
Bay City Junior High earned an academic achievement distinction in mathematics.
Cherry and Tenie Holmes elementaries met standard but did not gain any academic achievement distinctions.
While also meeting standard, Matagorda ISD did not earn any distinctions this year.
