Duck Season opens in Matagorda County on Saturday, Oct. 31 and lasts until Nov. 29.
Preparation for the opening of the season happen days beforehand.
A hunting license is required of any person, regardless of age, who hunts any animal, bird, frog or turtle in Texas.
No hunter orange is required while hunting on private property, but it is recommended by Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Public hunting lands require 400 square inches of daylight florescent orange with 144 square inches appearing on both chest and back, and daylight florescent orange headwear must be worn.
Not only should gear be checked and made sure to be in working order, but four-legged helpers need a check-up, too.
