Tidehaven’s area playoff against Odem delivered the rush versus the pass contest as promised, and Odem prevailed with three aerial touchdowns for a final 30-7 score in Edna Friday night, Nov. 27.
Odem had 328 yards passing from an elusive and accurate Owl quarterback Michael Everett, while Tidehaven rushed for 313 yards – an impressive 217 of those yards coming from hard-running sophomore Jeff Williams.
“This loss will sting for a while, for the simple fact that we as a program have grown from hoping to win to expecting to win,” said Tiger head coach Brent Mascheck.
“I thought our defense played a good game, besides a few breakdowns versus one of the best quarterbacks in the state.
“We had several opportunities to sack him and he avoided the rush and made a big play downfield.
“We knew we were going to give up some yards against Odem, but we got stops,” Mascheck pointed out.
