Officer Marino Chavez

   Officer Marino Chavez was selected Police Officer for November, by the Bay City Police Department.
   Chavez has been with the BCPD since June 2014. Chavez was born in Richmond and attended Needville High School.
   He earned an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Wharton County Junior College. He graduated from Wharton County Junior College Police Academy in 2014. 
   Chavez’ interests are family, friends, sports and outdoors. 
   He enjoys watching NFL and college football as well as the UFC. Chavez also likes to hunt and fish. He considers his marriage and his daughter as his greatest achievements. 
   BCPD selects the officer of the month based on calls for service, reports taken, traffic contacts, and arrests. 
   During November, Chavez answered 174 calls for service and took 18 reports. He made 53 traffic contacts, (11 citations and 42 written warnings) and made 12 arrests. 
   Chavez’ name will be placed on a plaque in the police department lobby.
