"Wait for opportunity in a difficult market" by: John Sample

   Well, if you thought last year was not much, this one is really starting off poorly. 
   We have been able to wipe out the total gains of the fourth quarter in the first six trading days of 2016. 
   Moreover, the earnings environment is not supportive either. 
   We had no gain in the second quarter of 2015 and negative results the last two quarters. 
   I hate to bring this to your attention but a year of earnings declines has a tendency to predict an economic recession. 
   That is with the Federal Reserve deciding it is the perfect time to raise rates to head off inflation.
   I am not much for the predictability of Santa Claus rallies or the first 10 days of trading in a new year but I could really use some good signals for a change.
