1 dead, 1 injured in Matagorda wreck

MATAGORDA - Two students from the East Bernard High School were involved in a wreck in Matagorda early Sunday morning, Jan. 30.
“According to reports the students were going morning duck hunting heading south on Texas 60 in Matagorda when they ran into the back of a broken down lumber truck,” said KKHA’s website.
“The truck had been setting alongside of the northbound lane of Texas 60 for a few days with safety cones around it.
According to some officials the boys may have fell asleep and swerved into the truck head on.
As of right now one student is in critical condition and was life-flighted, the other was deceased at the scene.”
A passerby noticed that something was wrong and turned back to see and found the vehicle the students were driving in the ditch badly damaged, added KKHA.
