"‘Run for the Waves’ 5K, 10K to raise natatorium funds" by: Mike Reddell

Wellness Matagorda County has a water-related theme for its semi-annual fun run and walk Saturday, April 22.
That’s because the Run for the Waves 5K and a 10K Run and Walk proceeds will go to the design and construction of a new countywide natatorium, as will all future funds raised, said Renee Savage, WMC Co-Chairman.
The facility will include an indoor pool for the general public and student athletes, therapy pool, small water park, spectator areas, and meeting rooms, added Loy Sneary, WMC Co-Chairman.
Registration for Run for the Waves begins at 6:30 a.m.
That’s also when warmups begin with Abby McConaha and Devin Mongrain, the new Wellness Coordinator at the Wellness and Rehabilitation Center, at 7:15 a.m.
The walk begins at 7:30 a.m., and the run begins 8 a.m. at the new Wellness Dome, next to Matagorda Regional Medical Center, with free parking behind the Dome.
