"Movies to see when Schulman MBG opens" by: Jessica Shepard

With Schulman Movie/Bowl/Grille (SMBG) to open June 1, I thought I’d round up a few summer movie titles to share with everyone.
Now, this isn’t an all-inclusive or exceptionally amazing list.
Mostly because all of my favorites that I wanted to see happen to come out during this month.
And, to be honest, I’m a little depressed at that.
You might be asking yourself why that would depress anyone.
For me, movies are one of the best entertainment outlets available.
I’d watch movies over TV any day!
And while these movies can only be seen at venues 45-60 minutes away, it’s going to be awesome to finally see them locally.
The money saved on gas for a movie trip can now be spent on food here!
Plus, that means less time spent on the road and having to leave early to get an amazing seat.
But, it is worth noting that SMBG opens the day before “Wonder Woman” hits theaters on June 2.
Which means I’m going to line up as soon as I get off work to see it.
Hopefully, there isn’t too big of a line.
I had thought about seeing Tom Cruise’s remake of “The Mummy,” but, I’m still partial to the old black and white version and the one with Brendan Fraser more.
The only thing remotely cooler about this version is that the “mummy” is actually female.
Whereas in all the other iterations, it’s been male.
I guess you can go to check out an “ancient princess mummy” on June 9.
While I’m not exactly 100 percent a fan of all Disney/Pixar movies, I am a little curious to see what happens to Lightning McQueen in “Cars 3,” June 16.
Michael Bay’s latest mecha movie, “Transformers: The Last Knight” features Mark Wahlberg reprising his tinker role on Jun 21.
I’m all for Transformers blowing things up and an awesome soundtrack, but, it’s getting a bit long in the tooth.
“Despicable Me 3” rounds out the month on June 30 and will probably be something we’ll go see in theaters for mom.
For some reason, she really thinks the minions are adorable and wants a few of her own.
I honestly thought that’s why she had kids, but, apparently not!
July looks a little sparse with only maybe one good movie coming out each week.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” kicks off July 7 and, as much as I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’m going to pass on this one.
It can wait for Redbox, if only because I’m tired of them rebooting the character so much.
A week later, July 14, “War for the Planet of the Apes” comes out.
Now, I grew up with the old Ape movies in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
I’ve also gotten to watch these remakes as well.
So far, I believe they stay true to the basics of the source material, but, take the story deeper and make it more intense.
After that, there isn’t anything of note, at least personally.
I prefer to let the rest roll into Redbox and pay just over $1.50 for a rental and hate it than pay more.
Either way, I’m looking forward to spending some time at SMBG this summer.
