Governor Greg Abbott visited with Matagorda County, Bay City and Palacios officials here as part of a three-day, 16-city tour of the Hurricane-Harvey impacted areas of the Texas Gulf Coast.
The governor met with County Judge Nate McDonald, Bay City Mayor Mark Bricker and Palacios Mayor Glen Smith during a discussion at the Matagorda County Courthouse.
Abbott was accompanied by Commission to Rebuild Texas Commissioner John Sharp, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, State Sen. Lois Kolkhorst and State Rep. Dennis Bonnen.
Abbott briefly talked with the press in the courthouse hallway after meeting with local officials.
He said “it was good to be in Matagorda County to visit” with the county judge and mayors.
“We discussed debris removal and strategies for mitigation,” Abbott said.
“We’re getting good ideas here to plug into our overall strategy.”
