A Bay City couple was found dead of gunshot wounds – in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide - in their house Friday morning by their teenage son, Bay City Police Department reported.
About 8:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, Bay City Police Department got a call from friends of the family, who had gone to the house of Bryan and Sandra Spencer Hogg, at 6 Lazy Lane, and knocked for several minutes without getting an answer, BCPD Lt. Clayton Ryman said.
The couple’s teenage son responded when the people climbed a ladder to the son’s upstairs bedroom to get his attention and they were finally able to make contact, Ryman said.
“The son reportedly found his mother and father deceased inside the residence after being woken up,” Ryman said.
Both 911 and local EMS were immediately contacted and police responded to the scene. After police arrived, they cancelled EMS.
Bryan Hogg was 44, and Sandra Hogg, 42, Ryman said.
Both of them sustained gunshots wounds, he added.
“Facts present at the scene lead investigators to believe that this was a murder-suicide but the investigation is ongoing,” Ryman said.
Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Suzan Thompson went to the residence and determined the time of death.
“The Bay City Police Department would like to extend condolences to the families of the deceased,” Ryman said.
