"1st-ever Goulash Cookoff Saturday" by: Jessica Shepard

The first-ever “Goulash Wars” cook off happens from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the LCRA Matagorda Bay Nature & RV Park.
Entering the cook-off costs $20 and mingling and eating is only $8.
“A lot of us are spending the winter here in Matagorda and we just wanted to do something fun for ourselves and the community,” said event coordinator Anna Bouchard.
“Proceeds will benefit the Matagorda Lions Club and their children scholarship fund.”
Bouchard is encouraging everyone to bring their own goulash recipe and enter the contest.
“Even if you don’t want to enter the contest, you’re more than welcome to come out and eat with us,” she added.
“Hang out and have a good time.”
With a goal of 20 goulash recipes to judge, there are still spots left in the contest, Bouchard said.
Judging begins at 4 p.m. with a silent auction and L.E. Barrett book signing to follow.
“He is donating proceeds of his book sales to the cause,” said Bouchard.
