Sheriff’s Office lists recent Sargent burglaries

   Several Sargent-area vehicle and residential burglaries were reported Jan. 29-30 to the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Department.  
   “We have been having a rash of vehicle burglaries as well as some home breakins,” said Lt. James Orr, with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
   Jan 29 and Jan. 30 burglaries in Sargent reported to the sheriff’s office include:

  •     Items including a radar detector, tactical flashlight and tool set together valued at $699 were taken from two vehicles on Oak Circle.
  •     Three ice chests with a combined value of $977 were taken from a residence.
  •     Four items including a .357-caliber Glock pistol and a wallet with $300 were taken from a vehicle on Canal Drive.
  •     A desktop computer valued at $600 was taken from a vehicle’s trunk, while the inside was rifled through but nothing missing. 
  •     Items valued at $1,500, including firearms and radar detector, were taken from a pickup truck on Canal Drive.
  •     Items taken from a vehicle parked on Carancahua include a wallet, rifle and scope together valued at $1,058. The complainant reported that her wallet was found at a public boat ramp and had money and credit cards missing.
  •     A Sargent resident reported a back door glass window was broken, with visible pry marks on the door, and a bag of tools valued at $299 were taken from a storage room.
  •     Items valued at $1,550, including a money counting machine, were taken from a residence, where multiple doors were found kicked in to gain entry and several security cameras were taken from their mounts and destroyed.
