"Lots of food, fun, games at Seafood Fest " by: Jessica Shepard

With several hundred pounds of shucked shrimp among shelled oysters, French fries and hushpuppies, the 8th Annual Matagorda Seafood Festival is shaping up as the place to be this Saturday, March 10.
The gates open at 10 a.m. at the Matagorda Fireman’s Hall and cost only $5 per person.
That ticket price includes access to the silent and live auctions, beer garden, musical entertainment, vendor booths, an eating contest and tournaments.
“Over the last eight years Matagorda Charities, Seafood Fest & Boil Blast, have donated $302,200 to Matagorda ISD,” said Gina Treybig, event coordinator.
“It’s amazing that we’ve raised so much. That total, is just to MISD. “Other local charities have benefited from these festivals as well.”
