"VVISD OKs Skanska for bond project management" by: Jessica Shepard

Van Vleck ISD trustees approved Skanska USA Building, Inc. as project administration management for the 2017 $88.2 million bond program.
The bond projects feature a new elementary, junior high and high school along with several district-wide renovations and improvements including new school buses.
Skanska has a vast portfolio of construction and project development services ranging from education and aviation to healthcare and industrial settings.
Skanska’s main office is in New York City, but they have offices in Houston, Cincinnati, Dallas and San Antonio.
PBK Architect Ron Bailey gave the board construction and design updates during a workshop prior to the meeting.
“At the middle school and the high school we’ve been having intense meetings and discussions on design development,” said Bailey.
“We started meeting with departments to get much more detailed information of what they wanted to go in the building. Everything from casework to marker boards and so on to just add more detail.”
“With your approval, we go into what’s called construction documents, which is a very labor-intensive session where we put down every piece of information that the subcontractors need in order to bid and build the project.
“It’s several months long worth of work, but, you guys will definitely see us throughout that whole phase,” he added.
