Mary Juanita Davis   September 10, 1930 - June 25, 2018  

   Mary Juanita Davis of Bay City, TX, passed away in her home on Monday, June 25, at the age of 87.    
   She was surrounded by her family and many loved ones in her last days on Earth before she was called home to be with the Lord.  
   She was better known as Nita to friends and family and was affectionately called Nanny by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  
   Nita was born September 10, 1930 in Clemville, TX to the late Edgar Gus Reed and Ruby Elizabeth Reed. 
   She Lived in Clemville until 1944 when her family moved to Bay City.  
   In 1947, she met Joe Skinner Davis of Marthaville, Louisiana. 
   The two married in 1948 and in the coming years welcomed three sons.  
   Joe and Nita raised their boys in Bay City where they owned a full-service filling station. 
   Nita was a full-time mama, well known for frying up tasty burgers and whipping up countless batches of her famous fudge. 
   In 1954, Joe began volunteering his time as a little league baseball coach. Nita attended every game and could always be found cheering on his teams from her lawn chair behind home plate.   
   She was a woman who was strong in her faith and who loved unconditionally. 
   She was kind, patient, and generous and was an inspiration to all who knew her, and she touched many lives.  
   She is preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd Gus and John Lloyd Reed, and by her husband of 49 years, Joe Skinner Davis.  
   She is survived by: her sons, Clyde Joe Davis and his wife Alberta, Gary Wayne Davis and his wife Alice and Steven Ray Davis, all of Bay City, TX; sister, Dorothy Pearl Walker of Missouri City, TX; brother, Joe Vernon Reed (wife Almarie) of Bay City; her grandchildren, Albert Davis (wife Alese) of Richmond, TX, David W. Davis (wife Brandi) of Bay City, TX, Glen Davis (wife Leslie) of Bay City, TX, Wayne Davis (wife Lacey) of San Antonio, TX, Robert Davis (wife Kim) of Bay City, TX and Karen Davis Gibbens (husband David) of Bay City, TX; and her great-grandchildren, Colin and Chandler Davis, Gage, Dylan, Eryn and Landon Davis, Everett and Ellery Davis, Dylan Davis, Bryce, Brayden and Bryer Davis, and Gunner, Lexi, Grace, Iralynn, and Megan Gibbens.  
   Pallbearers include: Albert Davis, David W. Davis, Glen Davis, Wayne Davis, Robert Davis and David Gibbens.  
   Visitors wishing to pay final respects will be received at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, TX, from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27.   
   The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Nichols Street Church of Christ located at 1200 Nichols St.. 
   The graveside service will be held at Cedarvale Cemetery on Golden Avenue.  
   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research online at www.support.brightfocus.org.
