Bay City will welcome District 13-4A-1 newcomer Fulshear for the Blackcat Homecoming at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium.
Fulshear (2-4, 0-2) enters the game following a 20-14 loss to El Campo last Friday.
The Blackcats (2-4, 1-1) lost a high-scoring, 62-42 contest against host Needville last Friday.
The Blackcats boasted 426 total yards, with senior quarterback Dylan Davidson posting an impressive 20 of 30 for 246 passing yards and three touchdowns.
He also had two rushing touchdowns, including a dandy 85-yard TD (more on that later).
Junior running back RJ Mitchell had 16 carries for 111 yards, four catches for 46 yards and a touchdown and 54 return yards.
The Blackcats also had three fumbles, three interceptions and 77 yards in penalties.
Bay City began the scoring with a 22-yard touchdown pass connection between Davidson and Mitchell.
The two combined the efforts again for the two-point conversion that gave the Blackcats an 8-0 lead with 8:05 left in the first quarter.
Needville answered with a 27-yard pass play and PAT to cut the difference to 8-7 with 6:46 in the first.
Davidson scored a touchdown and passed to James Carter for the conversion for a 16-7 advantage.
A 23-yard touchdown by junior Bluejay running back Ashton Stredick (31 carries for 367 yards), plus the PAT at the 2:11 mark in the first narrowed the score to 16-14.
Davidson then had a highlight-film play with 22 seconds left in the first quarter by racing 85 yards down the right side for a touchdown.
While the conversion failed Bay City was up 22-14 after one quarter.
