Button likes what he sees in Lamar ISD swim meet

Bay City High School’s boys and girls swim and dive teams recently attended the Lamar Consolidated ISD swim invitational in Rosenberg.
Out of 19 total teams, the girls team placed seventh overall with 119 points.
The boys team placed 13 out of 17 total teams with a score of 31 points.
“I was very pleased with the way our kids got out there and raced hard,” said BCHS Swim Coach Bob Button.
“We’re asking a lot from our freshmen and sophomores, as they’re being thrown into varsity competition with very little experience. They’re a coachable group and they’re learning quickly.”
The dive teams travel to Manvel Thursday, Nov. 8, and the regular swim teams aren’t scheduled until Saturday, Dec. 1.
“We got a good look at some good competition,” said BCHS Diving Coach Clare Button.
“Our divers know what to expect if they’re going to stay competitive.”
“We have some technical things to work on, mostly with respect to our turns, and we’re still getting our feel for the water back after being out of the pool for much of the last few weeks,” Bob Button added.
“We have a nice stretch of prep time before our next swim meet, so we should be able to get in plenty of good work between now and December.”
