Tidehaven quarterback Blake Garcia (7) picks up yardage between Leopards Tre’veon Duncan (33) and De’Mitri Monroe (13).

The saying that it is difficult to beat the same team twice in one season lived up to its billing last Friday night, as the Tidehaven Tigers used a ball control offense and a stingy defense to shut out their cross-county rival Van Vleck Leopards 17-0, at Rosenberg’s Traylor Stadium.
With the win, Tidehaven will look to continue their Cinderella season as they face another District 14-3A-2 opponent, the East Bernard Brahmas, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Alvin ISD’s Freedom Field in Rosharon.
The game was moved from Friday because of severe weather conditions forecast for Friday.
The Brahmas are coming off of a 27-7 win over Blanco last week.  East Bernard beat Tidehaven 24-14 in week 6 of the regular season.
Against Van Vleck (11-2, 5-1) last Friday, Tidehaven won the toss and elected to take the ball on offense to begin the game.
The Tigers slowly moved down the field, going 11 plays down to the Van Vleck 32-yard line.
The Leopard defense stopped the threat, forcing a fourth-down incompletion to end the drive.
After a Van Vleck three-and-out, the Tigers were back on offense and this time they didn’t get stopped.
Tidehaven (7-6, 4-2) started from their own 34-yard line, and went 66 yards in 17 plays, capped off by a 3-yard touchdown run by Cade Galvan to put Tidehaven on the scoreboard.
Clay Ford booted the extra point and Tidehaven was up 7-0 with 11:55 left in the second quarter.
Tidehaven would add to their lead late in the half after a Van Vleck miscue.
