"BCISD recognizes employee dedication at annual banquet" by: Jessica Shepard

BCISD Retirees were recognized at the annual employee banquet May 1. They are: Joyce Atherton, Cecilia Cortinas, Frances Dee Dale, Donna Rice, Marie Taylor, Antonia Torres, Lori Webbon and Diana Widemon.

   Bay City Independent School District recognized and celebrated its employees with its “Our Future is Bright” awards banquet on May 1 at the Bay City Civic Center. 
   Guests were treated to a catered meal by K-2 Steakhouse while they listened to music by the Blackcat Jazz Band, directed by Bay City High School Band Director Mark Longoria. Bay City Junior High Director Jake Harmon joined the band as well.
   The BCHS Show Choir, directed by Dr. Kara Cowart, also provided entertainment with two Broadway favorites, “Dancing Queen” and “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend.”. 
   Employees with five, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 35 years of service with the district were recognized during the banquet. 
   Retirees also were recognized and they are: Joyce Atherton, Cecilia Cortinas, Frances Dee Dale, Donna Rice, Marie Taylor, Antonia Torres, Lori Webbon and Diana Widemon. 
   Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Educators of the Year nominees and the winner, Bay City Junior High’s Kristy Salas were presented framed award certificates. 
   The other nominees were: John Driver, Bay City High School; Cassie Dykes, Linnie Roberts Elementary; Donna Rice, John H. Cherry Elementary; and Blair O’Connell, Tenie Holmes Elementary.
