Pappas delivers 4,000 babies

Dr. Gregory Pappas

Dr. Gregory Pappas, a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist, has delivered his 4000th baby since he began practicing in Bay City in 2002.
Baby girl Melisa Lopez was born at Matagorda Regional Medical Center on 2:18 a.m. June 20, to proud parents Maria and Rafael Lopez.
She weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces.  Mother and baby are doing well.
“The days can be long and I don’t always get much sleep, but I still love it,” Pappas said.
“It’s been a great honor to care for all these mothers-to-be. There are so many patients that I still see whose children I delivered 10 or 15 years ago. It just warms my heart.”
Pappas has been practicing ob/gyn in Bay City for 17 years and works with Matagorda Medical Group, along with fellow ob/gyn Dr. LaDonna Rutledge and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Vicki Landis.
He started his practice in Dallas in 1993, then worked in Jacksonville, Texas from 2000 to 2002.
“Four thousand deliveries, what a great achievement!” said Women’s Center Director Selene Robles, RN.
“Dr. Pappas is dedicated to his patients and provides exceptional care.  The fact that these deliveries took place in Matagorda County shows that we are doing big things in our community,” she added.
Pappas is the current Chief of Obstetrics at Matagorda Regional Medical Center and is a member of the Matagorda County Hospital District Board of Managers.
He has previously served as the chief of the hospital medical staff.
“We have been so fortunate to be in this community,” he said.  “The patients, the hospital, and all the people I work with are the best.  It’s a very rewarding experience every day”
