"Workshop focus on longterm recovery" by: Mike Reddell

Bringing a broad spectrum of groups and individuals together to build a Long Term Recovery Group to reach community members after a disaster was discussed in a commissioners court workshop Monday, June 24.
“We want to reach folks that need the help,” said Mark Longoria, Congressman Michael Cloud’s Deputy District Director.
“We can always generate funding to put communities back to together,” he declared.
Longoria spoke to commissioners court members, economic development officials, emergency management representatives and people who played major roles in local disasters like Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
Longoria has extensive experience in helping the victims of disaster.
He was put in charge of coordinating the donations and help in Victoria County in the wake of Harvey and he got an engaged discussion in his presentation to local officials here Monday.
Several people supported the idea of having one entity – made up of several different groups and individuals – that people could go to for help.
Longoria’s talk Monday focused on a Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) for Matagorda County.
