"2019 valuations show steady growth" by: Mike Reddell

Total certified property values in Matagorda County for 2019 are $8,258,959,328, up $406,338,923 from the 2018 certified values of $7,852,620, according to Matagorda Central Appraisal District.
This year’s taxable values show industrial growth and consistent growth in residential values, Chief Appraiser Vince Maloney said.
MCAD signed off on the major industrial accounts before they reached the Appraisal Review Board, he said.
“Inventories are up,” he said of the industrial totals.
Maloney noted that pipelines, such as those from the Eagle Ford shale formation, that go through the county also are up.
While residential valuations are up, the chief appraiser said he is seeing new homes in small tract development.
Taxable valuations are different from market valuations, Maloney explained.
