"BCHS CAT Camp immerses campers in The Blackcat Way" by: Jessica Shepard

Registration for the annual Bay City High School CAT Camp will be from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the high school campus.
The event is free for all incoming BCHS students in grades 9-12 and registrations can be made online at http://goo.gl/forms/2ktfa9iyus.
“Truthfully, they don’t even have to pre-register, they can just show up,” said CAT Camp organizer Amy Ging.
“C.A.T. stands for Character, Achievement, and Tradition, which makes it a fun afternoon of Blackcat spirit. We play games, have speakers, learn teamwork and get ready for the start of school.”
This year’s speakers include Ray Garcia, Trent Tinnin and Whitney White Thompson.
“Speakers will talk about what it means to them to be a Blackcat, how being from Bay City shaped them and helped them be successful,” she explained.
CAT Camp participants become the official “Crunk Squad” for the year.
“The Crunk Squad is our name for our spirit section at sports events, especially football games,” said Ging.
“All CAT campers receive a free T-shirt that is color coded by class year and has their class graduation year on the back.” Freshmen receive white T-shirts with 23.
   Sophomores receive a black T-shirt with 22.
   Juniors are gold T-shirts with a 21.
Seniors are blue T-shirts with 20.
Only students who attend CAT camp will receive the T-shirts.”
This year, the event features outdoor games and activities along with food and more.
“We need all CAT Campers this year to wear clothes that can get wet or dirty just in case,” she added.
“You never know what could happen with have outdoor activities.”
Ging is also looking for CAT camper sponsors.
“Sponsoring a CAT camper only costs $10,” said Ging.
“But, we welcome any and all donations for our campers.”
