A ballistic vest for Matagorda County sheriff’s office K-9 Hansel was donated recently by an Alvin police officer.
Alvin Police Department K-9 Officer Scott Green donated a K-9 vest made from the same material used to make the ballistic vests sheriff’s patrol deputies wear.
K-9 Hansel can wear the vest – valued at about $1,600 - to protect him during searches.
Green made the personal donation and has also spent countless hours assisting in Hansel’s training to prepare him to patrol the streets of Matagorda County, said Lt. James Orr.
“The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the dedication of Officer Scott Green in helping our Department,” said Sheriff Skipper Osborne.
“K9 Hansel and K9 Maximus are valuable assets to the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office and are made available to all surrounding Agencies when the need arises,” the sheriff said.
