Neil Anton Jurek was handed a four-year probation last week on his Jan. 7 conviction of hunting a 23-point prized white tail deer without the owner’s consent.
Following the day-long trial last month, a jury convicted Jurek, 40, of Markham, on a state jail felony for hunting the deer off of a north Matagorda County ranch Oct. 16, 2017.
Jurors gave Jurek a maximum sentence of two years and a $10,000 fine and recommended probation in the Jan. 7 trial in the 130th District Court.
