Bay City High School WIT (Workforce Industry Training) seniors visited the Texas A&M campus Feb. 8. Pictured clockwise from top: Chase Hestand, Mallory Grimes, Vanessa Castillo, Baylee Wallace and Seth Korenek. The WIT program is for mentoring and encouraging students to prepare for STEM-rich programs at universities, two-year technical colleges, and technical certificate programs. BCHS WIT students visit area industry workplaces, hear from guest lecturers who are experts in their fields, and visit colleges. WIT students gain exposure to higher education and career opportunities while building the confidence to consider further STEM education. While the founding emphasis is based in nuclear energy and technology applications, the program is broadly open to all aspects of STEM applications. BCHS WIT sponsors are Jill Lowry and Angela Baker.
