Jordan Rickaway was on familiar ground last week – the Matagorda County Fairgrounds arena.
The former Tidehaven High School standout interviewed the youngsters in the Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association (MCFLA) Bucket Calf competition Friday, March 6.
Rickaway once was among the Bucket Calf participants in an event that guides kids through their first glimpse of showing cattle – in their case calves.
“I grew up showing steers here at MCFLA with a bucket calf just as many of these young people have,” Rickaway said in her speech to those attending the event.
Tidehaven’s valedictorian, student council president, Tidehaven FFA president and the 2016 Fair Queen, Rickaway is a senior Public Health major at the University of Texas in Austin and will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in May.
