Warren Trahan is taking over the athletic director reins in BCISD. The BCISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on his selection at a special board meeting on May 4.
Trahan is no stranger to Bay City.
He served as the Blackcats’ athletic director and head football coach from 1992 through 1999, where his football teams made seven playoffs, including a state final appearance.
His first order of business will be to hire a head football coach.
“I am so happy and so excited to be coming back to Bay City,” said Trahan.
“We’re going to get the kids back in the field house. We’ll keep the field house open after school and get the kids there.”
“We want all the boys and girls programs to be going to Austin every year,” said Trahan last week as he began meeting with BCISD personnel.
“We are going to compete in everything we do. Some things are gonna change.”
After leaving BCISD in 1999, Trahan served as athletic director and head football coach in Dickinson ISD from 2000 to 2012.
Prior to coming to BCISD in 1992, he coached in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
Most recently, he worked for Methodist Hospital in an outreach program that worked with coaches and athletic injuries.
He also spent two seasons at Ithaca College in New York coaching with his son Brody.
Trahan is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
He is married with three sons, all of whom are football coaches.
