Bay City firefighters battled a blaze for about three hours that heavily damaged a residence at 2601 Nichols Street Thursday afternoon. Arriving firefighters found a fully involved blaze burning out of control that began at about 12:20 p.m. at the rear of the house.

One firefighter said the fire then went into the attic and spread to the rest of the structure.

No one was hurt in the blaze that was fully involved when firefighters arrived, fire department officials said.

The occupant, who was out of the house before the fire started, told Officer Dan Shook she heard a popping noise then the fire.

A nearby travel trailer received some damage, Shook said.

Shook inspected the house and interviewed the occupant, fire department reports show.
