VVISD registration opens Aug. 3

Van Vleck ISD opens online registration for the 2020-2021 school year Monday, Aug. 3.
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 17.
“Despite the current events surrounding the COVID-19 Pandemic, VVISD has been preparing for the reopening of schools since May,” the district website said.
“The VVISD ‘Back to School Plan’ has been developed with collaboration of information from the VVISD Reopening task force, parent and staff surveys, the recent release from TEA officials, the Governor Greg Abbott’s executive orders, and the Texas Department of State Health Services local authorities.”
Parents and guardians have the option of sending their students to school for in-person instruction or to choose online virtual instruction.
If virtual instruction is chosen, students in grades 3-12 will have synchronous instruction - option to view teachers in real-time.
Students in grades PK-2 will have the option of receiving asynchronous instruction - pre-recorded instruction.
Students ages 10 and over, all staff members, and all visitors to wear a cloth face covering (over the nose and mouth) or non-medical grade face mask or a face shield.
   All classrooms and entrances into
each facility will have hand sanitizer available.
“Campuses will institute more frequent cleaning practices, including additional cleaning by janitorial staff contracted through McLemore, as well as provide the opportunity for children to clean their own spaces before and after they are used, in ways that are safe and developmentally appropriate,” the website said.
“Signage and helpful reminders of best practices will be posted throughout the facilities.
“After much consideration, daily temperature checks upon arrival will not be implemented. Parents must ensure they do not send a child to school if the student has COVID-19 symptoms, is lab confirmed with COVID-19, or have been in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19,” it reads.
Details on the plan, along with registration links are available at the district’s website: www.vvisd.org/article/271131?org=district&fbclid=IwAR1Pj1oro7x7wda-pJCja...
Parents and guardians are encouraged to email resources@vvisd.org for further questions regarding how VVISD plans to implement prevention, response, and mitigation to keep students, staff, and the community safe.
