Matagorda Day filled with activities

This year Matagorda Day is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Matagorda Volunteer Fire Department.
The event features a parade, fajita meal, vendor booths, live band, raffle, children’s activities, and a live auction.
Everything kicks off at 10 a.m. with a parade followed by fajita plates with rice and beans at noon.
Fajita plates are available for drive-thru, to-go, or for dine-in.
Dave Owen Live is providing live music entertainment.
This year’s fajita cook-off check-in is between 9-11 a.m. with meat due at 1:30 p.m.; trophies will be given to first-third place winners.
Fajita cook-off participation costs $100 per entry and winners are scheduled to be announced at 3 p.m. or when the live auction has ended.
The margarita contest participants must be signed up by 11 a.m. and have their containers turned in by 12:30 p.m.; trophies will be given to first-third place winners.
Margarita contestant entries are $20 each and winners will be announced at 2 p.m. or when the live auction begins.
Proceeds benefit the Matagorda Volunteer Fire Department with help purchasing fire equipment and necessary training.
