"State-ranked Brahmas stampede over Leopards, clinch district crown" By John Hoffman Special to the Sentinel

East Bernard – The Van Vleck Leopards knew they would have to play perfect if they wanted to upset the state-ranked East Bernard Brahmas.
But the Brahmas were not having it; scoring 28 first half points and never looking back en route to a 59-14 victory last Friday night.
With the win, East Bernard clinches the District 14-3A-2 Championship while Van Vleck awaits this week’s final district games to see who they will match up against in the playoffs.
East Bernard got the scoring going in the middle of the first quarter after an interception set the Brahma offense up at their own 33-yard line.
East Bernard quarterback Dallas Novicke completed passes of 15, 13, and 24 yards to move the Brahmas down to the Van Vleck 1-yard line.
Running back Niklas Schatz took it in from there to give East Bernard a 7-0 lead.
After a Leopard punt, the Brahmas quickly reached the end zone, with Kaleb Marek running up the middle from 25 yards out to cap off a 2-play, 57-yard drive.
Andrew Schmidt booted the extra point to make the score 14-0 with 2:08 left in the first quarter.
The Van Vleck offense showed some life in their next offensive possession to get onto the scoreboard.
The Leopards started their drive from their own 30-yard line and moved down the field.
